ETTINGREADYforHealthReformGBONSECOURSHEALTHSYSTEMFiscalYear2012AnnualReporttotheCommunity10DiversityandInclusionAsthepopulationothenationcontinuestogrowmorediversetheneedtorespectincludeandcelebratethatdiversitygrows.ForthepastthreeyearsBonSecoursHealthSystemhasexpandeditsdiversityandinclusioneorts.InFY2012thehealthcaresystemcelebratedDiversityandInclusionCulturalAwarenessMonthwithavarietyoactivitiesthroughoutthesystemincludingprayerservicesdiverseoodsmusicdancesandgames.The2012leaderreviewscalledTalentConnectionincludedanewcomponentrelatedtodiversity.EachlocalsystemwasprovidedwithracedemographicsotheirExecutiveManagementTeamsandtheirprimaryserviceareas.Eachlocalsystemwasaskedtodevelopanactionplantomovetowardsthedemographicsotheirlocalserviceareas.Thisdatawillbetrackedonanongoingbasisorthetop250seniorandexecutiveleaders.AlsothroughtheTalentConnectionreviewslocalsystemsidentifedtheirhighpotentialdiversetalentanddevelopedplansortheirutureadvancement.BonSecoursHealthSystemjoinedHeroHealthHireacoalitionocompaniesandotherentitiesinthehealthcareindustrythatareunitedwiththegoaloemployingwoundedwarriorsandveterans.AdditionallyBonSecoursHealthSystemearnedtopmarksin2012oritscommitmenttoequitableinclusivecareorlesbiangaybisexualandtransgenderpatientsandtheiramiliesbytheHumanRightsCampaignFoundation.EmployeePatientandPhysicianEngagementBonSecoursHealthSystemwasnamedoneo27recipientsothe2012GallupGreatWorkplaceAward.Theawardhonorsorganizationswhoseemployeeengagementresultsdemonstratetheyhavethemostproductiveandengagedworkorcesintheworld.TheEmployeeEngagementSurveyresultsor2012continuetobeverygoodwithtwooutotheourinclusiveindicatorsscoringasbestpractice.Localsystemsalsoearnedhonorsfortheirworkplaces.BonSecoursVirginiaHealthSystemwasnamedaBestPlacetoWorkinVirginiabytheVirginiaChamberoCommerceVirginiaBusinessmagazineandtheVirginiaSocietyforHumanResourceManagement.ModernHealthcaremagazinerankedRoperSt.FrancisHealthcare27thoverallinthenationothe100BestPlacestoWorkinHealthcareor2011andourthamonglargecompaniesonthelist.EducationandTrainingWiththeadventohealthcarereormnothingismoreconstantthanchange.Inanticipationothecomingchangesinthehealthsystemin2012BonSecoursHealthSystemprovidedaChangeToolkitorleadersandemployees.Thisresourcebringstogethermaterialsintegratingcurrentandbestpracticesorleadingchange.TheToolkitcontainsthemodelorchangeandpracticaltoolsthatleaderscanusetoincreaseeectivenessefciencyandstrategicengagementokeystakeholdersinchangeprojects.TheToolkitiscurrentlyinusetoguideandsupportmajorchangeeortswithparticularocusontheStewardshipProgram.AdditionallyleadershipstaarerequiredtoattendaFacilitativeLeadershipProgramwhichpresentssevenleadershippracticesandpracticalwaystoleadchangeintheworkplace.InFY2012theCenterorMinistryLeadershipincollaborationwiththeDirectoroChangeManagementdesignedandoeredtwoadditionalclinicalleader-specifcleadershipormationprogramsorthesystemsChieMedicalOfcersandChiefNurseExecutives.AdditionallytheCenteroeredtheFoundationsoCatholicHealthcareLeadershipclassto24employedphysiciansinBonSecoursVirginiaHealthSystemwithadesignofanadditionaldayonvocationcommunityandethicsaslivedoutinthephysician-patientrelationship.Eightentry-levelworkersatBonSecoursVirginia-HamptonRoadsgraduatedromthehealthsystemsreeSchoolatWorkprogramonJuly19.ThecareerdevelopmentprogramprovidesareresherinbasiceducationorthosewithaGEDorhighschooldiplomaandcanbeaspringboardorpeopletoseekacollegeeducation.
