ETTINGREADYforHealthReformG9BONSECOURSHEALTHSYSTEMFiscalYear2012AnnualReporttotheCommunityEmployeeHealthandWell-BeingBonSecoursHealthSystemiscommittedtothehealthandwell-beingoitsemployees.Over90oemployeesparticipateintheannualPersonalHealthAssessmentBiometricScreeningtoinormthemobasichealthrisks.Resultsothescreeningshavehelpedeachlocalmarkettoidentiyemployeehealthrisksandtodevelopathree-yearplanorimprovingemployeewellness.Amongthefndingsromthescreeningswastheactthat40oemployeesareobeseand70areconsideredoverweight.Asaresultmanyothelocalsystemsareocusingonweightmanagementandencouragingmoreactiveliestyles.InaboldemployeewellnessmoveBonSecoursVirginiaHealthSystemRichmondandHamptonRoadsVirginiaimplementedanicotine-reehiringpolicyintheallo2011.Allapplicantschosenorapositionaretestedornicotineaspartotheirpre-employmentscreening.Jobapplicantswhotestpositiveornicotineareeliminatedromconsiderationandtheirjoboersarerevoked.Currentemployeesarenotaectedbythenewpolicy.ThesystemcontinuestooersmokingcessationsupportincludingclassesandaccesstotheAmericanCancerAssociationQuitLine.EmployeeACOPilotAnEmployeeAccountableCareOrganizationACOisbeingpilotedwithBonSecoursVirginiaHealthSystememployeestoimprovehealthandreducetheoverallcostofcare.SinceNovember2011incentivizedACOCareManagementprogramsordiabeteshypertensionandasthmahavebeenoeredtohigh-riskemployeesinRichmondandHamptonRoads.GoodHealthNavigatorsmakeoutreachphonecallstohigh-riskemployeesinordertoestablishgoalsandtrackprogress.AninterimassessmentotheACOhasshownanumberosuccessesincludingimprovedclinicaloutcomesreducedhealthcarecostssuccessulenrollmentohigh-riskemployeesinACOcaremanagementprogramsandincreasedreerralstotheBonSecoursMedicalGroupandpatient-centeredmedicalhome.
